A rowing tradition dating back to the Serenissima Republic.
The 'Regata delle Bisse' is a traditional rowing race involving historic boats dating back to the time of the Venetian Republic and has always aroused great passion and interest, exerting among other things an intense influence on the customs and traditions of the municipalities along the Riviera.
Since 1548, regattas have accompanied very important historical events on Lake Garda. The bisse, evolutions of flat-bottomed fishing boats with Venetian-style rowing, are 10.40 metres long and 0.65 wide. The "bisse" have four oars 4.50 metres long, consisting of a single cylindrical piece with one end shaped like a paddle. Venetian rowing takes its name from the way the Venetians and fishermen of Lake Garda rowed, who rowed standing upright and facing forward, in the manner of the Phoenicians and many others who came after them.
In 1967, a group of enthusiastic amateurs from Gargnano decided to revive the competition and today 14 municipalities of Lake Garda and Iseo with a total of twenty boats take part in the Regata delle Bisse.
The Regata delle Bisse is organised by the Lega Bisse del Garda and is held every year between June and August; the boat that wins the championship obtains the Flag of the Lake as a trophy and the best rowers are given the honour of parading in Venice on the Grand Canal during the Regata Storica.

Bardolino Film Festival
The event will be held at the uggestive setting of the park of Villa Carrara Bottagisio by the lake overlooking the waters of the Benaco. The festival is organized and supported by the Municipality of Bardolino, and the administration's desire is to create a real "Film Village," a place for meeting and discussion, where it will be possible to meet artists, listen to book presentations and appreciate local food and wine excellence. And where every evening, at dusk, it will be possible to watch the projection on the big screen of one of the best films of the season and meet its protagonists. Art direction will be by journalist and film critic Franco Dassisti.
The theme that will accompany the 2023 edition is "On the road ... on the road and in the soul." The narrative paths proposed by the competing films will evoke not only one of the most classic themes such as traveling on the road, but also the journey into the soul understood as introspection and self-discovery.
There will be two competitions again this year. One dedicated to documentaries and the other to short films, with a wide selection of Italian and international titles. For each of the two competitive sections, BFF Doc and BFF Short, the Best Film Award will be given. There will also be the BFF Books section, dedicated to meetings with book authors always following the ideal trajectory traced by the theme of the event.
