A maxi bike park opens on Lake Garda: 30 kilometres of trails networked

25 March 2024

A bike-park up to 30 kilometres long to promote two-wheel tourism in the area. This is the initiative of the Pro loco, supported financially by the municipality.

The municipality has announced that the new tourist project will come to life by mid-April, thanks to the installation of signs and the enhancement of hillside paths that have already been recovered and cleaned up over the past months and years. Explaining the project is Cristina Gaioni, Pro Loco vice-president.

"The Bike Park project was born at the beginning of 2021 on the initiative of the Pro Loco, with the municipality and the hoteliers' association," says Gaioni, "and envisages the trails of 10 routes, classified and surveyed according to difficulty, on paths that are already in use and mapped. The park has a minimum length of 4 kilometres and a maximum of 30. The park will be an excellent alternative to weekend hit-and-run tourism. The routes are in fact dedicated to sustainable tourism, of those who love our area and know how to appreciate the beauty that is in our hamlets. In other words, it is aimed at those who arrive on Lake Garda, stop and want to get to know the natural beauty with an ecological and slow means of transport".
But that is not all. "The project intercepts the great expansion of cycle tourism in recent years. The conception of the park, which provides for different gradients and altitudes, has taken into consideration all kinds of people: from families with young children to sportsmen who like to admire the town from a unique and different perspective, to the more daring with high mountain routes".

"I believe that there is an increasing need for teamwork between the municipal administration and local associations," adds Paolo Dall'Olio, delegate for Tourism, "this is an important project and therefore a specialised, national company was chosen to create the bike routes. There will soon be a map with all the routes. The proposal is especially for young people, not necessarily super sportsmen: a great opportunity to get to know our beautiful hinterland'.

The first citizen concludes. "The investment was possible thanks to the tourist tax and the collaboration with the Pro Loco and the Hoteliers Association, which will be replicated".
