"Benacus Hub": AI revolutionises tourism in Peschiera del Garda

20 March 2025

What would happen if we started applying artificial intelligence to tourism? If all the new technologies at our disposal were at the service of tourists and those who work in tourism?
This is what the Municipality of Peschiera del Garda has decided to find out by launching the ‘Benacus Hub’ project, a series of meetings with innovation experts to build a network of people, businesses, and institutions capable of speaking the same language: that of promoting the territory through technology.
Imagining a different kind of tourism, made to measure, a 4.0 tourism that can draw all the best possible from new technologies.

‘Benacus Hub’, which will be presented by the municipal administration of Peschiera del Garda on Thursday, 27 March at 5.30 p.m. in the Sala del Centro Civico Gandini, enjoys the patronage of the Department of Management of the University of Verona.
Moderated by project coordinator Damiano Bazzoni, speakers in the talk will include, among others: Professor Lapo Mola from the Department of Management of the University of Verona, Francesco Masaia, owner of Colibryx - a software house specialising in AI solutions for companies in the tourism sector, Alessia Annunziata, delegate for Innovation of the Peschiera Municipality, and Elisa Rubele, a student at the University of Verona, author of a thesis on innovation and tourism.
'Peschiera represents the ideal place to give birth to a project of this kind,' explains the mayor of Peschiera del Garda Orietta Gaiulli. 'Our area lives on tourism, has a rich history and a long experience. This is why we wanted to pave the way for a different way of promotion, a 4.0 tourism in step with the times and needs'.
'New technologies often frighten us,' explains councillor Elisa Ciminelli, 'but at the same time they offer so many opportunities. We have decided to take these opportunities and put them at the service of businesses, of those who work in tourism and who have contributed to making Peschiera what it is today'.
After the first meeting, we will start immediately, on 28 May, with the meeting entitled ‘Lake Tech Day’, a day entirely dedicated to technology in tourism, with various panels of experts and companies operating in this field. In the autumn there will instead be a Training Workshop with sessions dedicated to the use of generative artificial intelligence, data analytics, Augmented and Virtual Reality (AR/VR) smart objects with specific applications in tourism.
All the appointments will be oriented towards operators in the sector, and extended to all social categories interested in learning more about these topics of great impact for professional growth. And future developments are already being considered. On the one hand, with the Benacus Hub Service Desk, which, at the Gandini Civic Centre, will provide interested individuals and companies with information, guidance and operational support on events, services and collaboration opportunities.
On the other hand, imagining a platform that can network the skills that are gradually being acquired. A sort of permanent meeting and information point for companies.
In the meantime, it starts on 27 March, at 17.30, at the Gandini Civic Centre, when Benacus Hub will take its first step.
