The tourist season is approaching and mobility management represents a crucial challenge for Lake Garda. Local authorities, together with representatives of small businesses and craftsmen, have come together to address this issue, trying to find a balance between the attractiveness of the area and the sustainability of transport.
A constructive meeting for the mobility of Garda
Last 14 March, Riva del Garda hosted a meeting between the Association of Artisans and Small Enterprises of the Province and the Garda Dolomiti Tourist Board. The main objective of the meeting was to discuss mobility and connectivity in the region, with a special focus on connections to the main airports and railway stations in northern Italy.
The discussion was attended by key figures in the sector, such as Daniela Bertamini, president of the Alto Garda and Ledro Artisans' Association, together with other representatives, including Ettore Egidi, Andrea De Matthaeis, Paolo Maffei, Silvio Rigatti, and Oskar Schwazer. At the centre of the debate was the recent launch of a mobility service that aims to improve accessibility for tourists and residents.
Strategic decisions for the future of mobility
The decision emerged from the meeting that the Garda Dolomiti Tourist Board will focus on the exclusive promotion of collective transfer services. This strategy was adopted to guarantee greater visibility for private transfer services offered by local operators, a choice that aims to strengthen the local economy and guarantee a diversified service for visitors.
In addition, it was agreed to develop a Trentino-wide on-demand booking system, coordinated by the Consorzio Trentino Autonoleggiatori. This system will also involve non-consortium operators, thus extending the mobility network. The implementation of this strategy will be promoted at all the accommodation activities of Garda Trentino, in order to improve the quality of the services offered.
New working tables to solve transport problems
During the meeting, the creation of a specific working table dedicated to transport was proposed, which will see the active participation of the Craftsmen's Association and operators in the sector. The main aim of this initiative will be to identify practical solutions to the historical problems of intra-territorial connections and connectivity with the main destinations, in order to present proposals to the relevant municipal and provincial administrations.
This new working table represents a significant step towards a shared management of mobility in the region. The Tourist Board emphasised that this initiative is part of a broader context of commitment to responsible and accessible tourism, which is essential to ensure the competitiveness of local operators.
At this meeting, it was highlighted how a collaborative approach can lead to positive results, not only for the tourism sector but also for the local community. Synergy between the different parties involved is fundamental for a more sustainable future for Lake Garda, an area that has so much to offer and seeks to welcome its visitors in the best possible way.
