17 June 2025

The third and last stage of the public presentation of the 2025-2029 business plan launched by Gestione Navigazione Laghi, took place in Desenzano del Garda on Friday afternoon, at the Sala Pelèr of Palazzo Todeschini.
At the opening there was a speech by the mayor Malinverno and greetings by the president of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, through the Councillor for Tourism, Territorial Marketing and Fashion Barbara Mazzali.
The top management of the body supervised by the Ministry of Infrastructures presented the results of the market analysis carried out in terms of positioning and volume of passengers transported with similar Italian and international realities.
‘From the context analysis carried out, it is clear that the entity represents a unicum at the national level and a reality of undoubted complexity,’ said Alberto Chiovelli, general manager, "and as such a pragmatic approach and structured planning is necessary; on Lake Garda a growth in demand of 3.3% is estimated.

The project was born on the input of Minister Salvini, Navigazione Laghi emphasise, and is aimed at creating a territorial value that contributes to increasingly enhancing and favouring the use of scheduled public transport, with the idea of improving territorial mobility and incentivising the waterway considered the fastest and most effective vector for discovering the beautiful landscapes of the three great lakes of Northern Italy.
"For the first time, thanks to the support of our supervising body, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, our organisation has drawn up a medium-term investment plan based on three strategic guidelines: investments of more than 100 million for the renewal of the company fleet and infrastructure, more than 7 million for the digital transition, organisational strengthening and the streamlining of processes related to operational and occupational safety. The objective is to develop a more competitive tourist offer, integrating and qualifying transport services to improve accessibility and enhance the attractiveness potential of the lake territories. Such substantial investments will have positive repercussions in terms of economy and employment," continued Pietro Marrapodi, the entity's government manager.

"A single reality of public management of the scheduled service for the three different basins represents an opportunity to be preserved in terms of know-how, cost optimisation and transversality of procedures and knowledge. Each territory, however, is characterised by its own peculiarities and excellences, which the territorial tourism system has the task of enhancing,' commented Alessandro Morelli, undersecretary to the Presidency of the Ministers with the delegation to the CIPESS. 'In this context, transferring what has been done, for example, in Lake Como with the meeting with the Chambers of Commerce, to this territory as well represents an opportunity to share structural objectives, in line with the investments of the tourism system. Lastly, I would like to launch a cue to the stakeholders, namely that of taking advantage of the Olympics event, which will see more than 2 million arrivals in our territories, to work on a process of deseasonalisation of tourism that can represent a driver of territorial attractiveness'.
