Sirmione wins the challenge: more tourists, fewer cars. Easter vehicle traffic down 4%

The growth recorded in Sirmione is not an isolated phenomenon. Benchmark data prepared for the Destination Verona Garda Foundation confirm that Easter 2026 was exceptional for the entire lake area, with tourist arrivals increasing by more than 15% compared with 2025 and hotel occupancy reaching 90% across Lake Garda, with peaks of 96%.

International markets also showed strong growth, particularly France, the United Kingdom, and Germany. The British market, in particular, emerged as the leading foreign market in Sirmione’s Analytics data for May 1, 2026, and is showing signs of long-term structural consolidation across the entire Lake Garda area, recording growth of nearly 20% compared with 2025.

Having reached the natural limit of vehicular accessibility, lake transport services and the effective management of pedestrian flows in the historic center are now key priorities.
