"Svelare" (Unveiling) without Barriers project kicks off

The Dielleffe Nautical Group of Desenzano del Garda, in association with the Department of Hunting and Fishing, Sport and Associations of the Province of Brescia and with the patronage of the Municipality of Desenzano DG, has implemented this project to further affirm the importance of sailing as an element of education, recovery, involvement and reintegration into society by sharing with participants a path of emotional and sporting commitment based on the conduction of a sailing boat in full compliance with the necessary regulations both as regards navigation and daily life.
The name of the initiative stems from the desire to unveil many aspects that are, unfortunately, unknown to many due to lack of information or incorrect prejudices, architectural barriers and mental barriers.

Every week (on Thursdays and/or Fridays) the Dielleffe Desenzano Nautical Group hosts (in rotation and according to a calendar agreed at the beginning of the year) one of the four associations involved at its premises. The day includes outings on the lake on the two J24s (monotype), lunch at the headquarters, theory lessons ashore (targeted sailing courses reserved for educators and volunteers of the various services, organisation of targeted sailing courses reserved for people with disabilities who have shown an interest and aptitude for sailing sport), and pleasant convivial moments.
Lots of enthusiasm, cheerfulness, but also commitment and a desire to learn.

To crown this important project, the Provincial Championship for people with disabilities is held every year.
Associations and cooperatives in the area, including Fobap Anffas of Brescia, ANFFAS of Desenzano, the Cooperativa la Rondine of Mazzano, the Fondazione Castellini Comunità Anania of Melegnano and the Cooperativa Collaboriamo of Leno, participate in the project (which runs from March to October) and the Championship (which takes place in September), which began in 2007 and is based entirely on voluntary work.

The Unveiling without Barriers Project and its Provincial Championship event is a competitive-amateur sports initiative, with the aim of social inclusion, entertainment, health, psycho-sports training and introduction to sports practice, aimed at spreading the culture and values of sport as a tool for training and socialisation also dedicated to the professional growth of sports operators, entirely based on voluntary work, desired and conceived to affirm the positive effects of sailing as a tool for intervention in the various areas of social, physical and mental discomfort.
