Accessibility that creates value: the World4All project presented for truly inclusive tourism

LAKE GARDA – The World4All project was presented, dedicated to developing inclusive tourism on Lake Garda and defining a structured and measurable accessibility model for destinations and tourism operators.

On Wednesday, March 25, in Desenzano del Garda, at the Sala Pelér of Palazzo Todeschini, the World4All® project was presented. The initiative aims to develop a structured and measurable accessibility model for destinations and tourism operators on Lake Garda. It is promoted by World4All® and Avventure Accessibili®, in collaboration with the Consorzio Lago di Garda Lombardia.

For truly accessible tourism

In Italy, more than 13 million people live with a disability, yet accessibility in the tourism sector is often fragmented and difficult to verify. For this reason, the project introduces an accessibility assessment system based on verifiable and measurable criteria rather than generic ones, along with digital tools and a platform that allows institutions and operators to clearly communicate the accessibility levels of their facilities.

The goal is to create a tourism model for everyone, designed for territories, facilities, experiences, and destinations that aim to make accessibility a new standard of value for Lake Garda Lombardia—combining quality of hospitality, destination attractiveness, and long-term growth prospects, while strengthening competitiveness over time.

The economic impact of accessible tourism

Accessible tourism is a rapidly growing market. According to the data cited in the project, in Italy it generates €9.6 billion in economic impact, with an average revenue growth of 28.8% between 2019 and 2023 for companies operating in the sector. Accessibility is therefore not only a social value but can also become a concrete driver of economic development for territories.

In light of these figures, projects like this can truly make a difference and become decisive in enabling everyone to travel.

The journey and the World4All® App

During the meeting, the operational aspects of the project and the World4All® App were presented, including the possibility of creating a dedicated network featuring tourism packages that will include the activities joining the project.

The strength of the World4All® project lies in the quality of its data: information is not self-declared but verified directly on-site, ensuring a reliable and immediately usable level of accuracy.

Users can filter content and proposals based on their specific needs, navigate through clear and inclusive language, and plan their entire stay—not just individual steps. They can organize different aspects in advance in a coherent and personalized way, from accommodation to local activities.

The result is a substantial shift in the travel experience: less need for adaptation and more freedom of choice for travelers with disabilities, less time spent on verification, greater safety, and increased autonomy. With the planned evolution in version 2.0, the integration of artificial intelligence will provide increasingly specific suggestions, making navigation even more intuitive and aligned with users’ needs.

The promoters

Consorzio Lago di Garda Lombardia: an organization bringing together 26 municipalities from the hinterland and the Brescia shore of Lake Garda. Its main mission is to promote a wonderful territory, with the aim of making it accessible to everyone by informing visitors through its local network, as well as through online promotion and participation in fairs and workshops worldwide.

World4All: an ecosystem combining methodology, training, and technology, created to make accessibility a measurable value, provide tools and skills to improve inclusion, and support companies and institutions in adopting truly usable standards.

Avventure Accessibili: a startup that creates inclusive and personalized travel itineraries for people with disabilities. It offers tailored consulting and selects transport, accommodation, and activities suited to individual needs. It was founded by Cristina Casali, a woman with a motor disability and caregiver, who aimed to fill a gap in the accessible tourism market. It is also a website and podcast dedicated to inclusive tourism.
