Tremosine, unstable rock face: landslide risk. The Forra road is still closed

Tremosine sul Garda (Brescia) - Bad news from the update table between the Province and the Municipality regarding the closure of the SP 38 road, better known as the Forra road, considered by Churchill as the eighth wonder of the world, which has continuous collapse and instability problems. At the meeting in Palazzo Broletto, attended by president Moraschini, technicians, councillors and mayor Battista Girardi, the results of the investigations carried out in recent months on the section that is still unstable following the detachment of 8,500 cubic metres of rock on 15 December from the slope of the Brasa stream, near the purification plant, were presented.

"The safety condition of the road remains extremely delicate. Direct investigations have confirmed what the use of drones had already detected: the presence of considerable unstable volumes that need to be monitored along the slope south of the tunnel and in the central part of the landslide,' says the Province. Geological and engineering studies have reiterated the danger and high risk, drawing attention to the fact that, unlike ground landslides, rock landslides do not give warning signals before they occur. Therefore, until monitoring is completed, the reopening of the road is ruled out, even if it were subject to active monitoring by traffic light systems.
