In the accommodation facilities, after the extraordinary hailstorm that hit the Lower Veronese Lake area during the night of Monday 24 to Tuesday 25 July, maintenance workers began working from the first light of Tuesday to ensure that everything was back to normal as quickly as possible. The violence of the hailstorm hit transport vehicles in particular, including caravans and camper vans, making it necessary to relocate camp site guests in particular, who were temporarily without accommodation.
Among the actions taken in no time at all, that of the Garda Veneto Young Hoteliers Committee stands out in particular.
"After the storm," explains Committee President Francesco Zeitler, "we realised from our colleagues who managed campsites that they were in trouble, especially because many of their customers had been left without a car, or without a camper van or caravan, and therefore unable to leave to return home, which would have made the usual check-out and check-in operations that take place particularly during the weekend difficult. As the Comitato Giovani Albergatori Garda Veneto we could do nothing but roll up our sleeves immediately and find a solution. We made ourselves available as a director to find temporary accommodation for all these people in the hotels represented by our federation, so that both tourists and colleagues in campsites could get back on their feet quickly'.
The Committee created a shared file with the various accommodation facilities involved in which campsites could enter the list of customers needing alternative accommodation for these days. There was an immediate response from our members, with 180 beds being made available at an agreed price. The collaboration with Elena Oppizzi, coordinator of Lagodigardacamping, a portal that groups together some twenty open-air tourism facilities located on Lake Garda, was fundamental. The file will remain active for another week or so, in order to positively conclude each open situation with every single guest.
"A beautiful synergy with the camps,' Zeitler continues, 'demonstrates the openness to mutual aid of all those who work here, particularly in times of difficulty. We all work in the same area, which we love first and foremost. Furthermore, we all work with the goal of providing the most impeccable service possible to our guests. For this reason, on behalf of the entire Young Hoteliers Committee, I would like to thank the Federalberghi Garda Veneto members and campers for their prompt, coordinated and unstinting provision".
